    Yankees focused on Raul Ibanez?

US PresswireThe New York Yankees are looking for a bat to add before the season gets started and the most recent word is tht the team is focused on former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Raul Ibanez.

Industry sources tell the New York Post reports that the 39-year-old Ibanez is of interest to the team and that the Yanks aren't expected to pursue recent Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes. He batted .245 last season for the Phils, hitting 20 homers and knocking in 84 runs.

"Ibanez recently had a productive workout with hitting guru Rudy Jaramillo and believes he has corrected flaws in his swing," the Post reports.

Since coming up to the big leagues in 1996, Ibanez has hammered out 254 homers and earned a career batting average of .280.

Raul is a class act and a professional hitter. He also has a World Series ring and can be a great mentor to young Yankee hitters....you could do a lot worse than Raul..Thanks for everything Raul, you will be missed...

bring back both matsui and damon they both were good yankee team players and they were model citizens for the team they can be mentors and have experience in winning so it not a bad idea.....

Apologies. Davfied has informed me that he did not predict that Johnny Damon would sign with the Yanks. What he said was, that he hopes the Yankees sign Damon and not a black, latino, or oriental player. Knowing Dav so well, I believe that is what he DID say.

Trade a bag of hammers or Burnett to the Chi Sox for Dunn. If he can return to 2010 form, combined with the short porch in right, He could be a monster at the plate in Yankee stadium.

Forget Raul, stick with players you know. Sign Damon to a one year deal. He's still a quality hitter, can steal a base or two, and can play the outfield. Plus, he's a great leader in the clubhouse.

Look everybody...Davfied stated a week ago that the Yanks will sign Johnny Damon. Dav has been a Yankee frontrunner for several years - so he would know.

I wonder what the Fresno Kid thinks about this? He needs to make at least one correct prediction this year or even his flunky NY Hoots will start doubting him. Pressure is on!

Raul is a great clubhouse guy and can hit in the clutch...not too sure about correcting his swing...i am sure he is pretty set on his ways

How many players do the friggin Yankees need? They just traded away a future Manny Rameriz when the let Jesus Montero go for a PITCHER!!! They get any player that want. Who do they think they are? They've already bought themselves an all star team. Texeria, Granderson, Sabathia, A-Rod...give me a break. And, I'm a Yankee fan.

bring back Matsui. The guy is still killing it and has already been a Yankee. Plus he is a proven clutch hitter.

Lets see.... Last year we had the most wins in the American league with C.C. , Nova, Nurnett, Freddy, Colon. The pitching did good in game 5 versus tigers. The hitting and age of the yankees was exposed. We were one hit away from winning game 5. 2 things prevented that. Our hitters besides Cano and granderson were shut down. second, Joe girardi stubborness to go with the same lineup each day . he did not even have the cojones to replace Arod or swish with Montero. can you imagine . We went from having a 40 homer 300 avg young stud at 21 years of age to Raul Ibanez and his 40 year olds. He can be Monteros father. The yankees are going nowhere. If Pineda does not win at least 18 games with sub 3.5 era this will go down as one of the worst trades in yankees history.

I admire Hooter. He is a kind individual, while i'm a classless loser. I sleep in my car, by the way. So does my wife.
