The Ottawa Senators are currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, but their playoff hopes were dealt a serious blow late Wednesday night when goalie Craig Anderson "suffered a serious cut while preparing food at his home" after blocking 33 shots as his team took down the Washington Capitals 5-2 that night, according to the Ottawa Sun.
The word is that he'll definitely be out for 10 days and possibly more, the Sun reports. The worst-case scenario, a source tells the paper, is that he could be out 6-8 weeks.
"GM Bryan Murray could be forced to go shopping for a goalie — with Monday's trade deadline fast approaching," the Sun notes.
Anderson is 29-19-6 this season with a 2.85 goals-against average and three shutouts.
