The Cincinnati Reds have been rumored to be interested in adding free-agent starting pitcher Roy Oswalt before spring training gets underway, but GM Walt Jocketty is saying that the team isn't planning to add any more payroll right now, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Jocketty told the paper that the team hasn't had any contact with Oswalt's reps for the last week. "I think he's waiting for Texas to clear money," Jocketty said, the paper reports.
Of course, Texas Rangers GM Jon Daniels said Sunday that his team isn't likely to add any more players to the 58 it is taking to spring training either, according to Fox Sports.
Daniels specifically addressed whether the team was going to go after Oswalt or Mike Gonzalez. "You never want to shut the door," Daniels said, according to the site. "There's a level of interest in both guys, but as far as a fit and payroll-wise, it's not as easy to see it."
