Rafer Alston returning to the NBA?

US PresswirePoint guard Rafer Alston has been paid to play basketball every year since 1998. And he apparently wants to keep his streak alive.

ESPN is hearing that the 35-year-old Alston is ready to "launch his comeback in the D-League" and he "could have a team by Friday."

Alston's last stint in the NBA was with the Miami Heat in 2010. After 25 games in which he averaged 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, he was suspended indefinitely in March for missing a practice and a game. That suspension ended up lasting the rest of the season.

In his career, the New York native (and streetball legend) has spent time with the Idaho Stampede, Milwaukee Bucks, Mobile Revelers, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets and China's Zhejiang Guangsha.

In his NBA career, Alston has played in 671 games and scored 6,799 points, averaging 10.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.

David Stern is allowing all these scrubs to come back (Mike James, Eddy Curry, Jamaal Tinsley, Larry Hughes, Jerry Stackhouse) who haven't played or been relevant for years yet the real big-named superstars like Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace and Larry Brown (for supporting Iverson now begging for a college job or assistant gig) will forever be blackballed, reputation tarnished, and career sabotaged in their contract season, a joint effort by the insider media cronies (Stephen A Smith, Adrian Wojnarowski, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller), other insiders (Michael Jordan, Joe Dumars, former union president Michael Curry), and refs (Bavetta, Steve Javie, Donaghy). Curry was rewarded for doing Dumars' and Stern's dirty work during A.I.'s contract year back in 2009 with an assistant role gig in Philly out of all places which is a slap in the face to Iverson. During the 2010 all-star game, Iverson was threatened to come up with the deathly sick daughter excuse. Larry Brown, a very well connected guy, was the only insiders who publicly supported him and he was fired less than 30 games after leading the Bobcats to the franchise first playoff berth for losing the locker room (if that's the case why does Scott Skiles still have a job?). Brown wanted the UNLV job or even the Celtics assistant job but even Doc Rivers is scared to hire him. Stackhouse, who was semi-retired, shamelessly sided with the owners during the lockout and is now rewarded with a chance to play again. Stephen A Smith accused Iverson of drinking and gambling yet Iverson never had a DUI. Who doesn't drink and gamble in the NBA except Grant Hill? Last time I checked, Jarret DUI Jack is starting in the NBA. After the Sixers shocked the world in game 1 of the NBA final back in 2001, Steve Javie was appointed the lead ref in game 2 and Iverson had 4 free throw attempts all night. Are you kidding me? Javie once again was the lead ref the first time Iverson went back to Philly as a member of the Nuggets. The Nuggets obviously lost the game due to some questionable officiating to create the illusion that the Sixers were better off without Iverson. Iverson called out Javie in the post game press conference and was fined. Donaghy is the ref Rasheed Wallace threatened in the Rose Garden parking lot back in 2003 which resulted in Sheed getting suspended for 7 games.
