Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony returning later this week

US PresswireThe New York Knicks expect Amar'e Stoudemire to be back in the lineup Tuesday night when the team takes on the Toronto Raptors after a week off to mourn his brother's sudden death. Fellow forward Carmelo Anthony, though, will miss a few more games and return toward the end of the week, according to ESPN New York.

Anthony, who has been out with a strained right groin, does not expect to have any effect on the play of second-year point guard Jeremy Lin, who has shockingly led the team to five straight wins.

"When I get back, Jeremy will have the ball in his hands and I'm playing off of that," Anthony said Monday, according to the site. "I know there's questions about, 'Can I fit in?' and stuff like that, but this is like a dream come true to me. It takes some pressure off of me. I don't have to play point guard. I don't have to try to get Amar'e 20 points, try to get this guy 20 points, me try to go out there and get 25-30 points a night, play defense, rebound do the whole thing."

I THINK IT WILL WORK BEAUTIFULLY!! THE KNICKS ALWAYS NEEDED A POINT GUARD AND NOW THEY HAVE A GOOD ONE! THEY ALSO HAVE A DECENT CENTER THAT CAN BLOCK SOME SHOTS. THE KNICKS HAVE NO MORE EXCUSES AS IT WAS PROVEN THAT THEY CAN BE A CONTENDER WITH WHAT THEY CURRENTLY HAVE!! NO EXCUSES!!! GO NY! GO NY! GO NY!! GO!!!

Too many pinheads in and out of the media are conveniently forgetting that Anthony and Stoudemire played extremely well together last year with Billups at the point. The big problem was they didn't have a center and played little defense. They smartly addressed those issues by getting Tyson Chandler and bringing in Mike Woodson as a defensive coach and they've been playing solid D all year. But thanks to the dopey new CBA rules, they had to sacrifice Billups to get Chandler and that's the LEAGUE'S fault, not Knicks management. The Knicks did what they had to do to strengthen themselves defensively.

Up til now the Knicks hadn't even had a quality backup point guard, or a decent shooting guard. Douglas and Shumpert aren't point men and Mike Bibby is finished. Douglas hasn't even provided the perimeter scoring that would open the floor for the big guns and that's resulted in Anthony and Stoudemire having to fight through double and triple teams. That's why they've been struggling and why they've been banged up. Can we connect the dots?!

Now with Lin showing he's legit and Baron Davis coming in soon, things should get very interesting at the Garden.

Glad Melo has come out and to say he's all for Linsanity. Let's hope he keeps to his words so the Knicks can keep winning.
