When quarterbacks kept getting hurt last season, David Garrard's phone kept ringing. Unfortunately for the former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, he was dealing with his own surgery for a herniated disk in his back.
Soon, though, that won't be an issue. ESPN Chicago is hearing that Garrard will be fully healthy in April and ready to return to the NFL.
He will join the list of free-agent quarterbacks for teams to select from that includes Matt Flynn, Alex Smith, Jason Campbell, Kyle Orton, Drew Brees, Vince Young, Chad Henne and Byron Leftwich.
The 33-year-old Garrard has thrown for 89 touchdowns and 54 interceptions in his eight seasons with the Jags. He threw for 16,003 yards, gained 1,746 rushing yards and scored 17 times while running the ball.
