John Gibson's new Ducks mask is all about Pac-Man (Photo)

We're still a good two-plus months away from getting hockey back on our minds and teams reuniting for traning camp, but we might already have a front-runner for 2014-15's goalie mask of the season.

Anaheim Ducks netminder John Gibson went with a psycho duck/insane asylum design for his lid when he entered the NHL toward the end of the 2013-14 campaign. For next season, however, the soon-to-be 21-year old is switching things up and going with an old school video game theme.

From mask artist Dave Gunnarsson:

Of course the whole design is painted in old school pixel styles, just as the video games from the 80´s… Even the Ducks logo on the sides are painted with pixels! The only thing not painted in pixel styles are the eating Ducks masks…:)

What the four images can't show -- and that Gunnarsson notes -- is that those faint Ducks logos throughout the design are actually holograms:

Between Gibson's Pac-Man look, the upcoming Lego design of teammate Frederik Andersen and the always interesting masks that their new creasemate, Jason LaBarbera, has, Anaheim's depth at the position is strong on the ice and in the lid department.
