No big deal. Just a contested 85-foot buzzer-beater. That's all.
Any NBA player who passes up a 3-pointer at the end end of a quarter for fear it may affect his percentages should take note of this full-court heave from Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis High senior Michael Beaty. He made this at the end of the opening quarter gave his Giants a 19-10 lead in the sectional semifinals.
Again, with a hand in his face, Beaty catapulted this beauty from the opposite baseline and barely touched net for three of his game-high 21 points. Remarkable. Alas, Ben Davis fell to crosstown rival Pike, 52-50, but the Giants wouldn't have made it to overtime without Beaty's long-distance connection.
