Game-winning shot attempt sits on rim in bizarre end to regulation

Bryce Carpenter couldn't do this again if he tried.

As regulation expired on Saturday night, the Grandview (Wash.) High senior forward's layup attempt to break a 65-65 tie sat on the rim -- and stayed there (h/t Big Lead). This sort of thing doesn't happen in the backyard, let alone on a full-speed, fast-break opportunity at the most crucial moment of an undefeated team's season.

At least Merriam-Webster has a new definition for anticlimactic.

Alas, Carpenter's Greyhounds defeated Prosser (Wash.) High, 72-70 in overtime. Grandview remained undefeated thanks to another game-winning layup attempt, courtesy of Isaiah Gonzalez (via Yakima Herald), that didn't stay on the rim for perpetuity.
