According to USA Wrestling, Lee accepted a one-year ban from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which tested Lee after she made the team in Iowa City in April. The suspension knocked her out of representing the U.S. at 72 kg (158.5 pounds).
Though it gives Bernard a second chance to represent the U.S., it's a pretty dumb move for Lee. Athletes from every sport know they will be tested during their trials and that marijuana is a banned substance.
Lee has been wrestling since she was a high schooler in Hawaii and a part of the U.S. national team since 2003. She finally realized her dream of becoming an Olympian, and now it's gone.
