Olympians represent their countries on a massive international stage. In many cases, they're the most prominent figures from those countries, tasked with making a good showing and building a national reputation in the world. It's a great honor, but also a tremendous responsibility full of pressure.

Of course, certain Olympians are better suited to handle that responsibility than others. For Team USA bobsledders Nick Cunningham and Dallas Robinson, representing America is old hat. On Saturday, it was announced that the teammates would pair up for the two-man bobsled event, set to be held on February 16 and 17. What many might not have known is that both men are soldiers in the Army National Guard. From Cunningham's Twitter account (via FoxSports.com):

Cunningham, a sergeant in the New York Army National Guard, is competing in his second Olympics after finishing 12th in the two-man event and 13th in the four-man event in Vancouver. Robinson, a sergeant in the Kentucky Army National Guard, is competing in his first Olympics. Cunningham and Robinson are also sled-mates in the four-man event and will compete together in Sochi in that event, as well. Both men started their athletic careers as collegiate track athletes before turning to bobsled.

Interestingly, Robinson already received some national attention this week when his roommate in the Olympic Village, fellow bobsledder Johnny Quinn, became trapped in the shower and had to force his way out.

While Cunningham and Robinson are not exactly favorites to medal in Sochi, their story is sure to be a source of pride to many Americans. They've already done more than their part.
