When U.S. luger Kate Hansen tweeted out a video of a wolf prowling the halls of her Olympic village dorm, the entire world took notice.
Too bad it was a hoax.

Hansen, in conjunction with late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, created a fake dorm with a trained wolf, and we were all duped – all of us.
On Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hansen was a guest via Skype and explained how the two cooked up and ultimately executed the scheme.
And it wasn’t as simple as you’d think.
What looked like a cameraphone video of Hansen opening her door and seeing a wolf actually started with a photo of the hallway outside of Hansen’s dorm room in the Olympic Village. Then, Kimmel’s art department spent 15 hours creating a life-size Sochi dorm room and hallway in Kimmel’s studio.
All they needed was to add the wolf and the one they hired was a trained actor -- and real wolf -- named Rugby.
However, Hansen’s participation in the hoax probably brought her more trouble than she expected. During her interview with Kimmel, she said: “Security started freaking out, because technically there was a breach. You know, athlete safety. It kind of went a little crazy over here.”
But, to be clear, there was no breach. It was all Hollywood magic.
