Team USA's outfits weren't a mystery heading into Friday's Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Games. We've known what our athletes were going to be wearing since last month. But Team USA's garb getting a reveal on the NBC primetime telecast meant the outfits were going to be a public talking point like never before.
They were made by Ralph Lauren, and even if you didn't know that in advance, one look made it obvious. They're so Ralph. Some people love his style. During the Opening Ceremony, though, it seemed like the most popular reaction included references to ugly sweater parties. Ouch.

Our own Greg Wyshynski already handed out awards for the best and worst outfits of the day, and (spoiler alert!) Team USA did not get a passing grade. As we watched Team USA march into Fisht Stadium, one look at Twitter made it pretty obvious that people at home agreed.
Here's a smattering of reviews panning Team USA's outfits, with a variety of ugly sweater/clearance rack/Bill Cosby jokes.
Maybe the Ralph Lauren outfits weren't the biggest hit, but at least Team USA didn't wear Affliction.
