Report: Lindsey Vonn injured in ski accident at Copper Mountain [UPDATED]
With less than 100 days before the start of the Winter Olympics, Lindsey Vonn has reportedly been injured in a skiing accident at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
Ski Racing magazine first reported the accident, but few details are now available. Vonn will undergo an MRI on an injured knee after the wreck. She has been rehabbing an injured right knee, but there is no word yet on which knee she injured.
“No details yet. Yes she did crash and is being evaluated now,” the U.S. Ski Team said in an email to NBC Sports.
In February, Vonn suffered a cruciate and lateral ligament injury when she slipped and her legs became entangled in a wreck during the super-G at Schladming, Austria. She began skiing downhill for the first time since February just last week. Vonn is scheduled to race in three World Cup events at Beaver Creek, Colo. immediately after Thanksgiving.
"I definitely feel like I'm 100% in super-G," she said last week. "Now it's a matter of getting more comfortable with downhill and getting more training days in giant slalom."
Initial reports indicated that Vonn was taken off the slopes on a sled. However, one observer on Twitter offered up what was purported to be a shot of Vonn on her feet following the wreck:
