Pennsylvania meat company creates 'bacon medal' for Sage Kotsenburg (Photo)

Sage Kotsenburg was the talk of the Olympics last week when he won the first gold medal of the Games in men’s slopestyle snowboarding. After winning, the lighthearted Kotsenburg was all of a sudden in the spotlight, but he didn’t seem to mind too much – except for one thing.

He wished his gold medal was made out of bacon.

NBC tried to appease his wishes, but this photoshopped bacon medal is nothing like the real thing.

Over the weekend, Godshall’s Meats, a meat company in Pennsylvania, crafted some turkey bacon to look like the medals awarded in Sochi to honor Kotsenburg. Tuesday morning, the people at Godshall’s constructed a new version of the bacon medal made a from one slab of meat and hoped to get the “medal” in Kotsenburg’s hands while the snowboarder spent the day in New York City.

“We’re working on having somebody run it up to New York this morning,” Rob Godshall, vice president and co-owner of the company, told ABC news.

Unfortunately, Godshall told Philly.com that he had car problems, so he wasn't able to deliver the bacon medal to Kotsenburg before the snowboarder appeared on Late Show with David Letterman.

Hopefully Godshall can mail bacon across the country to Kotsenburg's hometown in Park City, Utah. The man deserves his bacon.
