Among the things a shiny new Olympic gold medal will get you, as snowboarder Jamie Anderson will attest, is an upgraded seat on airplane home. On her way back from the Sochi Games, Anderson got bumped up to first class. Score!
She recounted the story on Tuesday's episode of "Ellen." And it just so happened that host Ellen DeGeneres had another surprise for Anderson — her family.
Anderson, who won gold in the women's slopestyle, went right from Sochi to "Ellen." There was no time to make a stop at her South Lake Tahoe home. But at the end of her interview with DeGeneres, her family was revealed to be waiting for her behind two big doors on the set. (Skip to 6:25 in the video above for just that part, or watch the whole thing to hear her talk about the guys' phone numbers she got in Olympic Village).
Anderson received many hugs once her family was introduced. She's one of eight kids, after all. But the most touching moment was her embrace with her father at the end. It, too, was golden.
