Meryl Davis, Charlie White headed to 'Dancing With The Stars'

The Great Post-Sochi Wave continues, as ice dancing champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White will participate in Season 18 of "Dancing With The Stars."

White and Davis opted for the show over a defense of their World Championship, scheduled for Saitama, Japan later this month. "Dancing With The Stars" premieres March 17, and the skating duo will be part of a "Stars on Ice" figure skating tour beginning in April.

This now marks 14 of 18 seasons of "DWTS" that feature Olympians, three of whom - Apolo Ohno, Kristi Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson - have actually won the entire show. However, Davis and White will come in with a definitive advantage, as they've trained with one of the show's dancers in the past.

Other members of the cast include paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy, former NHL player Sean Avery, and Diana Nyad, who swam from Cuba to Florida last summer.

This marks the latest of many honors for the duo, who were the first American gold medalists in ice dancing. They returned to the United States from Sochi to find themselves on Corn Flakes boxes, among other accolades. It's yet another high-water mark for the two, who have known each other since childhood.
