UPDATE: Russian Evgeni Plushenko has withdrawn from the men's short program after injuring himself during the warm up. He won the gold in the team event, and many thought he would give his spot in the men's event ot teammate Maxim Kovtun. Now Russia has no entry in the men's event.

The men begin their quest for figure skating gold with the short program.

Watch the live stream from Sochi here and join other fans in the chat below. Lawrence Yee of Yahoo Sports will play-by-play and analysis beginning at 10am ET.

Skate order and results we be available here. Reigning Olympic silver medalist Evgeni Plushenko will skate early, while most of the medal contenders will skate in the final two groups.

Skaters to watch:

- Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu turned in a stunning short program during the team event, but his performance was overlooked by Plushenko's return. He'll look to repeat his skate today.

- Canada's Patrick Chan begins his quest for gold. He struggled in the team event but will need a clean skate here to contend for the title.

- Plushenko helped lead Russia to team gold. The veteran has already skated two programs; will fatigue and lingering injuries affect him?

- American Jeremy Abbott will see redemption after melting down in the team event. His teammate Jason Brown will skate his short program for the first time in Sochi, too.
