Lindsey Vonn is going to homecoming with a 15-year-old skier

    lindsey vonn

Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn has walked red carpets at award shows, movie premieres and fashion shows but had never gone to a high school dance. That will change Friday night.

Vonn will be attending a Colorado high school's homecoming dance with a 15-year-old student who asked her to go the day before.

She detailed the story on her Facebook page:

Yesterday I visited the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy and while I was eating lunch with all the students a 15 year old boy named Parker asked me if I would be his date for their homecoming dance which is tonight. When Parker asked me he was cute, nervous and very polite so of course I said YES! :) All through school growing up I never got the chance to go to a school dance so I'm excited for tonight! :) xo LV

Parker is a modern day hero. Thirty hours before the dance he doesn't have a date, then he has the gumption to ask a famous athlete who, amazingly, says yes, and now he's bringing a gold medalist/Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to his homecoming. And not only is he bringing her, but she's excited about it!

That, my friends, is the American dream.

MJ probably turned Spidey down, thus asking Lindsey instead!!!

If a 15 year old girl asked Tim Tebow to the prom and he said yes then this would be a very different article.

I think the whole idea is GREAT !! To me it shows the kid, Parker, has the guts " to go for the gold " and Lindsey to say "yes" shows the type of Lady she is. I hope they both have a GREAT time and come away with lasting memories of a NICE night together.

I love everything written by Chris Chase...for the comment he generates. Thanks to those that can make fun of truly bad journalists... I use that last word loosely.

Good for Parker! That took a lot of nerve to ask her to the prom. God bless Lindsey Vonn for saying yes to Parker's request for a date, and making a 15 year old boy's dream come true. Wow!! Is this a great country or what?

"And not only is he bringing her, but she's excited about it!"

There is something very sweet, honest, and refreshing about that statement... especially in today's world.

It would take a mental midget to agree with the post by "Bentheredonethat". aside from getting the facts wrong, the premise that this was pedophilia is not even in the realm of possibility. As for a doule standard, many older men have taken young ladies to their senior proms and nothing was said. At my daughters prom there were several fathers, and servicemen that attended, some clearly in late 20's and there was no problems. You have a warped mind to even think about thuis s#*T. As for women schoolteachers, this just shows that you are emotionally disturbed. Let me see, 3 maybe 4 women schoolteachers have been caught in what? maybe 50 years? and you forget the other 2 million women teachers that were true to their profession? Shame on you!

isn't this how that whole pedophilia thing gets started. a kind smile and a big hug with a explanation as to why it would be inappropriate for a 27 year old women to date a 15 year old boy would have sufficed but i guess that the chance for publicity was just to good to say no. if it were a 27 year old man and a 15 year old girl maybe readers wouldn't find this story so cute. the double standard is why we see so many female school teachers in the news,i guess they think it's cute too or at the very least that it's ok. next time Lindsey Vonn think about the negative message that you're sending instead of the photo op. surely a famous skier such as yourself knows a little bit about blurring the lines and slippery slopes right?

Oh, give me a break. The problem is in your head, not hers. He was apparently a sweet boy, and had no date for the prom. She never got to go to dances, so she accepted his invitation. It's darn cute and romantic. She knows she is a big-time athlete and her behavior is scrutinized. How you turned this into a pedophilia story is truly bizarre. He is 15 years old (He might even be over the age of consent in his state); kids today are a lot more sophisticated than we were 30 years ago, and I'm sure he can take appropriate action if he feels he is about to be sexually abused by this brazen hussey. Or maybe they'll like each other, fall in love, get married, have kids, and ski into old age together. I wonder how the prom went. Gosh, I thought I was too depressed and cynical, but even I pity you for your unhappiness, Ben. Something must have happened to you. Get help, or write to me if you need to talk about it. I'm a good listener. Just be happy for this guy.

it's pretty weird that she would do this and that the school officials would permit a possible couger into the event.
