Canadian women’s hockey team's note inspires men to beat USA (photo)

The Canadian women's hockey team showed zero quit on Thursday, winning gold in a dramatic, come-from-behind overtime victory over the United States.

But the Canadians weren't done there. The girls, in this case, were Hayley Wickenheiser, Brianne Jenner and goalkeeper Shannon Szabados.

Oftentimes, comparing a male hockey player to a woman is a lazy, derogatory remark. It shouldn't be, and especially not after the fight shown by the women on Thursday. Now it's the thing to do.

"We were all excited to see them last night win, happy for them. Very dramatic win. It was inspiring," said defenseman Duncan Keith.

Coach Mike Babcock's message for his team before the opening faceoff couldn't have been simpler: Play like our women. And it worked, as the men defeated the U.S. 1-0 to move on to Sunday's gold medal game.
