Awww! Here's ice dancing duo Meryl Davis and Charlie White when they were kids

Meryl Davis and Charlie White are the darlings of U.S. ice skating team after their wowing performance Sunday. But they've been darling for a while. Years, in fact. And here's photographic evidence.

Davis and White set an Olympic record Sunday with a 114.34 ice-dancing score. They helped Team USA to a bronze medal in the team figure skating competition and they're still favorites to win the gold in the pairs competition on Feb. 17.

As the photo suggests, Davis, 27, and White, 26, have been skating together for years. They officially became a skating pair in 1997 when they were 10 years old, but they've been training together since they were 6. They're from nearby towns in Michigan.

Together, Davis and White have had a highly decorated career in ice dancing. They won the silver in the 2010 Vancouver Games, finishing behind Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. The two pairs seem destined for a rematch in Sochi. Davis/White bested Virtue/Moir by almost seven points Sunday in the team competition, so that bodes well for next week.

Because you might be asking: No, Davis and White aren't romantically involved. It's a question they get a lot. White is actually dating ex-figure skater Tanith Belbin but purposely keeps it quiet. Davis addressed her relationship with her skating partner in a 2012 interview with TeamUSA.org.

"It's awkward because a lot of people like to ask if we are a couple off the ice. Because we are such good actors and it's a vital part of being an ice dancer to show we're in love on the ice, everyone just assumes, 'Hey, they probably are a couple off the ice.' We get that question a lot and it's a little bit awkward but we're used to it."

If they can act well enough to win a gold medal in Sochi, they'll probably be happy to keep answering that awkward question.
