(Getty Images)Ryan Seacrest has already conquered the worlds of music, radio, awards shows, entertainment news, New Year's Eve and perpetual stubble. Starting this summer, he'll try to break into the world of sports.
The "American Idol" host announced he will join NBC's primetime coverage of the Summer Olympics in London. He revealed the news during a live appearance on "Today."
"I've worked with the E! network for years and NBC Universal and E! are in the same family," he said. "The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have role at the E! network. The first assignment will be to join the primetime team for the Olympics on NBC."
Details about Seacrest's role weren't discussed. NBC already has a primetime host in Bob Costas, so don't expect to flip on the TV in July and hear "This is ... the Summer Olympics." It's easy to imagine Seacrest being involved in some man-about-town pieces and celebrity puff profiles. Here's Ryan seeing if British food is really as bad as its reputation!
