Wild’s Dany Heatley done for the season after shoulder surgery

Remember that slash fight with Marc-Eduoard Vlasic of the San Jose Sharks and Dany Heatley of the Minnesota Wild? The one that resulted in Vlasic getting a fine and Heatley falling to the ice awkwardly at the end?

Turns out that’s the end of Heatley’s season.

From the Wild on Tuesday night:

Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced that forward Dany Heatley underwent successful surgery today on his left shoulder by Dr. Tony Miniaci at the Cleveland Clinic.

Heatley will miss the remainder of this season and is expected to be fully recovered for the start of the 2013-14 campaign.

Heatley had 11 goals and 10 assists in 36 games, including seven points on the power play. The hope was to have him back for the playoffs; obviously, that won’t be the case.
