It didn't happen immediately off the opening face-off, but gloves were dropped early in the first period of Bruins-Sabres, and it featured John Scott and Shawn Thornton:
You might have noticed Thornton seemed a bit wobbly on his way to the penalty box. As soon as his penalty time expired, he went straight to the Bruins' room and did not return. According to the Bruins, he's done for the night. No word yet on the severity of his injury.
That was the only scrap during a scoreless first period.
John Scott's stat line? Twenty seven seconds of ice time. Seven penalty minutes. Two shifts. One shot. Zero punches received.
