So how much have the Blue Jackets enjoyed beating the Red Wings this season? Well, with 5:54 left in the third period, Vinny Prospal got into it with Justin Abdelkader and as he was being pulled away, he pulled the "scoreboard" move:
Prospal was given a 10-minute misconduct on the play, but it's unclear if it was for the tussle with Abdelkader or for the scoreboard point. (Maybe it was for breaking Rule 75.4 and "inciting" an opponent?) Hopefully it had nothing to do with the scoreboard point because we'd hate to see NHL refs start calling games like the "No Fun League".
According to Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch, Prospal didn't want to talk about the taunt after the game, but Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards said, "I didn't like it. I addressed the team after and told them that. We're not about that." Come on, Todd, let them have some fun.
You'll recall this isn't the first time an opponent has gone "scoreboard" on the Red Wings this season. After having his shutout ruined with 3.4 seconds to go, Kari Lehtonen made the motion to a fan at Joe Louis Arena in January.
