Upset after fight, KHL coach throws water bottle at Alex Svitov (Video)

KHL

Andrei Nazarov is like the Pavel Bure of KHL coaches: Electric, unpredictable, could potentially attack fans with a stick or throw water bottles at opposing players.

OK, maybe Bure wasn’t anything like that last part, but Nazarov has been just as entertaining in his new life as a head coach.

The Barys bench boss has previously gone after fans in the crowd with a hockey stick and unleashed obscene gestures at officials and opposing supporters. So, yeah, he’s got a bit of a temper, which was again on display Monday

Near the end of the first period between Barys and Ak Bars, Damir Ryspayev and Alexander Svitov dropped the gloves right off a face-off. Svitov, the no. 3 overall pick in the 2001 NHL draft, got the better of the 19-year old Ryspayev of Barys in the bout, which didn’t sit well with Nazarov. The two starting jawing at one another and Nazarov ended up chucking a water bottle at Svitov:

(WARNING: There is some NSFW language in the video, so plug in your ear buds if you’re at the office.)

Referee no. 19 is Jyri Ronn, a Finn, who is at the receiving end of much of Nazarov’s abuse, most notably the “LEARNG F&^%ING RUSSIAN! YOU’RE IN RUSSIA, OK?!” line.

Nazarov, as you would imagine, was ejected from the game and will likely be adding another fine or suspension to his lengthy resume.

UPDATE: The KHL has announced Nazarov has been suspended four games, adding to the six he was banned in September for the obscene gesture. The club was also fined roughly $2,200 USD.
