Sunday's Three Stars: Setoguchi sinks Avs; Boucher bests Jersey

No. 1 Star: Devin Setoguchi(notes), San Jose Sharks

With Joe Thornton(notes) out of the lineup and Patrick Marleau(notes) being held off the scoresheet, Setoguchi stepped up and led the Sharks to a 4-3 win over Colorado. Scoring the opening goal midway through the first period on a power play, Setoguchi ended his night with the game-winning tally with less than six minutes remaining in the game. Thomas Greiss(notes) was solid for San Jose stopping 42 Avalanche shots, while Jed Ortmeyer(notes) continued a career season production-wise with his eighth goal. The win puts the Sharks four points ahead of Phoenix for the Pacific Division lead.

No.2 Star: Jake Voracek, Columbus Blue Jackets

Thanks to Steve Mason's(notes) 33 saves and Voracek's two goals, the Blue Jackets continued to add to Chicago's current rough stretch with a 4-2 win. The Blackhawks have now lost six of their last eight games, including two to Columbus, with both games featuring three-point nights from Voracek. Despite already out of playoff contention, the Blue Jackets have gone 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and 9-5-4 since Claude Noel replaced Ken Hitchcock behind the bench.

No. 3 Star: Brian Boucher(notes), Philadelphia Flyers

Needing a win in the worst way after losing seven of their last eight games, Boucher defended his crease admirably during a 5-1 rout of the New Jersey Devils. Simon Gagne(notes) and Ville Leino(notes) each scored a goal and assisted on one another's tallies, while Boucher made 32 saves in the win. Philadelphia continued their season-long dominance over the Devils winning five of their six meetings. The win moves the Flyers into sixth place in the Eastern Conference, ahead of the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins.

Honorable mention: Ovechkin led the Rocket Richard race for just a couple of hours before Sidney Crosby(notes) scored twice for Pittsburgh in a 5-4 shootout win over Toronto. Brook Orpik had three assists for the Penguins. Phil Kessel(notes) scored his 30th goal of the season for the Maple Leafs ... Chris Mason(notes) made 23 saves and kept the Edmonton Oilers at bay as the Blues squeaked out a 2-1 win and kept their slim playoff hopes alive. On his 38th birthday, Keith Tkachuk's(notes) first goal in 15 games was the game winner with 12:24 to go in the third period. St. Louis is eight points behind Colorado for final spot in the Western Conference ... Colorado lost, but Peter Mueller(notes) kept producing. He scored two more goals to bring his tally to seven since being traded to the Avalanche. Colorado goaltender Craig Anderson(notes) set a franchise record with his 66th start of the season ... New Jersey's Zach Parise(notes) played in his 400th NHL game ... Ian White's(notes) two-point night and Rene Bourque's(notes) goal and two assists were enough for the Calgary Flames to hang on for a 5-3 win over Washington after being up 4-0 after the first period. In the loss, Alex Ovechkin(notes) scored his 46th goal of the season and added an assist to reach 100 points for the fourth time in his first five-year career in the NHL. Despite the loss, the Capitals clinched the No. 1 seed in the East later in the day after New Jersey fell to Philadelphia.

Dishonorable mention: Flyers forward Dan Carcillo may face suspension after cutting David Clarkson(notes) of the Devils near the eye with his stick during an altercation. Carcillo was given a match penalty that is automatically reviewed by the NHL. Time to spin that Wheel of Justice again!
