Stanley Cup Playoffs Three Stars: The Flower blooms in Manhattan

No. 1 Star: Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins

Did he get the help of three posts? Yes. Was the Rangers’ power play hapless? Yes. But as Dan Bylsma said, Fleury was the best player on the ice in making 35 saves for his second shutout in two days. The Penguins won, 2-0, and took a 2-1 series lead.

No. 2 Star: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings

Quick got solid support from his defense but still made 36 saves in the Kings’ 3-1 win for a 2-0 series lead over the Anaheim Ducks.

No. 3 Star: Jussi Jokinen, Pittsburgh Penguins

He left the penalty box to find a loose puck at center ice, but he still needed to put it past Henrik Lundqvist … which he did at 15:20 of the second, on the breakaway. It was his sixth of the playoffs.

Honorable mention: Sidney Crosby broke his 12-game goal-less drought for the Penguins. … Alec Martinez, Marian Gaborik (his sixth) and Dwight King had the Kings goals. … Patrick Maroon scored for the Ducks.

Dishonorable mention: The Rangers were 0-for-5 on the power play and are now on a 0-for-34 skid. … Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry were each minus-2; Getzlaf had an assist and Perry was scoreless.
