No. 1 Star: Steve Mason, Philadelphia Flyers

Mason’s return as the Flyers’ starter led to a 37-save effort and a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers, to knot their series at 2-2. Mason helped the Flyers’ PK go 4-for-4 against the Rangers power play.

No. 2 Star: Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks

Getzlaf’s return to the lineup energized and stabilized the Ducks in their 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars, to take a 3-2 series lead. He assisted on Nick Bonino’s power play goal, Mathieu Perreault’s power play goal and then scored the death-blow in the third period to make it 5-2.

No. 3 Star: Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks

The captain ended Game 5 with an OT goal on the breakaway, giving Chicago a 3-2 victory and a 3-2 series lead.

Honorable mention: Marian Hossa and T.J. Oshie both scored their first playoff goals. … Jamie Benn scored his fourth for the Stars. … Freddie Andersen made 34 saves for the Ducks. … Jakub Voracek had the game-winner for the Flyers.

Dishonorable mention: David Backes was a minus-2 with no points and was only 35 percent on faceoffs. Too soon? … Kari Lehtonen was pulled after giving up five goals on 21 shots. … The Dallas PK went 2-for-6. … The Ducks and Stars combined for 121 PIMs, including 15 for Ryan Garbutt’s spear to Corey Perry.
