Stanley Cup Playoff Three Stars: Kings, Bruins victorious

No. 1 Star: Marian Gaborik, Los Angeles Kings

The game-tying goal, the game-winning goal in OT and a primary assist on Alec Martinez’s power-play goal. Yeah, we’d say this one was an easy call in the Kings' 3-2 win over the Ducks in Game 1.

No. 2 Star: Reilly Smith, Boston Bruins

Smith’s wrister from the right circle at 16:28 completed the Bruins’ third-period comeback, leading to their 5-3 victory over Montreal.

No. 3 Star: Thomas Vanek, Montreal Canadiens

The notorious Bruins killer struck twice in Game 2 with a pair of power-play goals.

Honorable Mention: Teemu Selanne’s first goal of the playoffs was nearly the game-winner for Ducks. … Anze Kopitar had three assists. … Jonathan Quick made 33 of 35 saves. … Patrice Bergeron had a goal and an assist … Milan Lucic scored his fourth of the postseason, into an empty net. … Zdeno Chara was a plus-5. ... Martinez made a heck of a play here:

Dishonorable Mention: Will the Habs look back at the 3-1 lead they blew as the turning point in the series? … Lars Eller, Brian Gionta and Rene Bourque were all minus-3. … Bryan Allen was a minus-1 for Anaheim, but that goal was the Gaborik game-tying tally that he could have done more to defend.
