Sergeant surprises family with reunion at Anaheim Ducks game

Phot provided by the Anaheim Ducks

Holiday time in the hockey world is seriously the best time. From teams rapping about holiday sweaters, to teddy bear tosses, it always gets the creative and charitable juices flowing.

Both were on display at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Wednesday at the Ducks, Oilers game when Sergeant First Class Robert Vandenberg Jr. was 'supposedly' Skyping from the jumbotron with his family in the Honda Center, from Romania, on his way home for the holidays from a one-year deployment in Afghanistan.

But really, he was in the building, where he met his newborn son Travis for the first time in person.

The video below:

You'd have to be quite a grinch to not at least get a little misty at something like this. Absolutely tremendous stuff by the Ducks.

Welcome home Sergeant Vandenburg. We give you a major stick tap and hope you get to enjoy your holidays.
