Ryane Clowe trade coming? Sharks reportedly ask for no-trade clause waive
San Jose Sharks director of pro scouting John Ferguson, Jr. was a busy dude on Saturday. He was in Philadelphia for the Boston Bruins’ game at the Philadelphia Flyers, and then was in Montreal for the Canadiens and the New York Rangers.
Why? Perhaps because winger Ryane Clowe is on the block, if he’s willing to move.
From Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area:
A source has informed CSNCalifornia.com that the Sharks have approached Clowe’s agent about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause, and a deal could happen as soon as Sunday.
… The Bruins are searching for other options up front after losing out on Jarome Iginla. According to an ESPN report, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson would like “a first round pick and another young asset.” The Bruins offered a first round pick and prospects Matt Bartkowski and Alexander Khokhlachev to Calgary for Iginla, but the future All-Star chose to go to Pittsburgh instead.
Clowe is an unrestricted free agent this summer, and has yet to register a goal this season. Which is quite baffling, actually.
The Boston connection has been rumored for some time – hey, wouldn’t a blockbuster with Clowe and Dan Boyle filling the Bruins’ two needs be a ton of fun?
Montreal fans have been mulling over their team adding Clowe for the playoff push. Perhaps with the Sharks scouting the Habs and Rangers today, that might actually come to pass.
Clowe was in the lineup for the Sharks against the Coyotes on Saturday night.
