As Phoenix Coyotes fans are discovering in their team's first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings: The road to the Stanely Cup isn't an easy one.

From Puck Buddy John D.:

Guess the Coyote fans are still getting the hang of this whole playoff thing. Hopefully the Phoenix Coyotes will be StanLEY Cup bound in 2011.

What is worse is that the lady holding the sign is one of the few season ticket holders the Coyotes had this season.

In fairness, she nailed "Cup." The Coyotes are down 3-2 after last night's loss to the Red Wings, with their power play now circling the drain in a 0-for-19 funk. Adding Mathieu Schneider(notes) didn't solve the problems, even after he played 9:22 (!) with the man advantage in Game 5.

From Craig Morgan of, on the Coyotes' struggles:

If it were any other team but Detroit, any other place but Hockeytown, the possibility of a Game 6 win would seem plausible.

Then again, adversity has been the Coyotes calling card. That much was clear when captain Shane Doan(notes) was scratched from the lineup for a second straight game with an apparent shoulder injury suffered in Game 3.

"It seems like we just keep getting piled on as we go," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "It seems to be our identity."

Game 6 is Sunday afternoon in Motown. Check out George Malik's Red Wings-centric recap of Game 5 on Snapshots.
