Randy Carlyle accepts Ice Bucket Challenge, inadvertently proves he's not a cyborg

Maple Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle takes a lot heat for being a gruff, stuck-in-his-way, non-players coach. He always looks like he's having a horrible time, and when he does smile, it's awkward for all of us.

So when he was challenged to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by oft-embattled, current-Leaf Nazem Kadri, and former-Leaf (not to mention, very disgruntled) Mikhail Grabovski, we all laughed knowing it would be a cold day in hell before that ever happened.

Satan better go get a coat.

In honor of his brother-in-law, the usually robotic coach accepted the challenge, and issued a challenge of his own to Leafs ownership. (What, no Tim Leiweke for s---- and gigs?)

With the help of Jake Gardiner - who must have just received his driver's permit - Carlyle gets a shower down the back from the Zamboni. To top it off, Kadri steps in and makes it rain directly on his coach's head. Something makes me think Leafs PR didn't have to ask Gardiner and Kadri twice to help out with the stunt.

I was waiting for Carlyle to start sparking and shorting-out (Small Wonder style), but instead he plugged a golf tournament on September 10th to support ALS research.

Ahh, the doldrums of hockey in August. They make people do the strangest things.
