Preview: Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche, 9 p.m. ET. The Board of Governors approved Tom Gagliardi as the new owner of the Dallas Stars. Spending spree time? "It's more environment and comfort in the short-term," said Joe Nieuwendyk. Meanwhile, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, for whom the Avalanche didn't trade a No. 1 pick, gets a second straight start over Semyon Varlamov. Colorado has just two wins in its last 11 games (2-8-1) and is 2-6-0 at home, where it plays its next eight contests.
Preview: Buffalo Sabres at Carolina Hurricanes, 7 p.m. ET. Is this the end of the Hurricanes as we know them? Losers of six of seven, the Canes are entering must-win territory or else it could start costing jobs. So it's a bit of a surprise that Brian Boucher, not Cam Ward, gets the nod in goal. Preview: Chicago Blackhawks at Calgary Flames, 9 p.m. ET. Ben Smith is in the lineup for the Blackhawks. The Flames are clicking at around 5-percent on the power play at home, so that's something they're working on.
