• Can we please have the Philadelphia Flyers play in Florida more often? Because the well of "Always Sunny" references goes much deeper than Kitten Mittens.

• Good stuff on the Flyers here: "The Flyers players are on a mission to win a Stanley Cup and having unselfish players like a Ville Leino(notes) and strong leadership with Paul Holmgren gives them hope. Having a quality defense anchored by Chris Pronger(notes) won’t hurt their chances either." [True Hockey]

• "If there is a better top-six around the league than the group the Canucks have on IR/LTIR, I’d like to know. I mean, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Edler, Ballard, Alberts and Sweatt form a pretty formidable group. It’s an unfortunate turn of events for Bieksa, especially considering he’s worked hard to go from the fans’ doghouse to be, arguably, the team’s best overall defenseman this season." [Canucks Hockey Blog]

• The St. Louis Blues had four games in five days beginning on Friday, and may not have Jaroslav Halak(notes) for them. He's been placed on seven-day injured-reserve with an injury to his right hand, retroactive to Monday's game. [Post-Dispatch]

• Love, love, love the Bluenatics idea. [STL Game Time]

• Cotsonika on Steve Yzerman facing the Detroit Red Wings. Here's Stevie: "I don't think we should make any bigger deal than necessary about the game. I'm not the coach standing behind the bench, and obviously I'm not a player playing in the game." [Y! Sports]

• Nice piece by Pierre LeBrun on Ken Holland and Steve Yzerman facing each other as opposing GMs for the first time. Said Holland: "You think about the Detroit Red Wings, we've been around 90 years or so, I think of three players: Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman and Nick Lidstrom. We had other, great, great players, but I think those three are the head of the class. Steve has meant so much to our organization and to the city of Detroit, it's going to be strange [Thursday night], no question." [ESPN]

• Perhaps the first time Vince Lombardi has been evoked in the opening paragraph of a story about Toronto Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson. [THN]

[Thrashers]

• The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Derick Brassard on injured reserve, Blue Jackets executive vice president and general manager Scott Howson announced Feb. 17. Brassard was injured in the first period of Wednesday night's game vs. the Los Angeles Kings and is expected to be sidelined at least two to three weeks. [Jackets]

Cal Clutterbuck(notes) on the Minnesota Wild's recent lack of success: "If we stick to it here and stop the bleeding right at two games, we can get back on a roll." [Star Tribune]

• One more good link on the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Islanders melee, from BD Gallof: " time, stay away from the mic. Suck up the sucker punch, because it's the bed you help make. Your statement is more than hypocritical. It is facetious. It is duplicitous. It purposely ignores the travesty you pay so that the end justifies the means." [Hockey Independent]
