Puck Daddy's Unofficial 2016 NHL Draft Drinking Game

Puck Daddy's Unofficial 2016 NHL Draft Drinking Game

There is little drama surrounding the top three picks as the NHL Draft opens up Friday with Round 1. Auston Matthews, Patrik Laine and Jesse Puljujarvi are expected to go to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blues Jackets, respectively, to kick things off.

After that? Your guess is as good as ours.

While you're keeping up with the action, your friends at Puck Daddy are back with another drinking game to improve your NHL Draft experience.

Here's what you should look for today and tomorrow to help increase your beverage-to-hand ratio.

ONE DRINK

• Each time a team thanks the city of Buffalo for their hospitality.

• Each time a team congratulates the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning the Stanley Cup.

• Each time a team gives a shout out to their fans "back home at our Draft party".

• When the bloodlines of a draftee are brought up. (And it will happen a lot this weekend.)

• A conversation between two general managers is shown, upping the speculation.

• A player hugs or kisses one of his parents after being selected.

• Any team, GM or player is booed.

• Your team makes a trade.

TWO DRINKS

• Your team makes a trade that makes you want to take two drinks.

• Someone in the media gets fooled by a fake Twitter trade alert.

• Whenever the "Russian factor" is mentioned in regards to a potential player bolting for the KHL at some point in their career.

• If First Niagara Center sounds like a Toronto Maple Leafs home game after Auston Matthews’ name is called at No. 1.

• The first moment Brian Burke is spotted with an undone tie.

• The first moment Gary Bettman steps to the podium and utters, "We have a trade to announce."

THREE DRINKS

• A trade is completed after a player waives his no-trade clause.

• Each time a team congratulates Las Vegas for getting an expansion franchise.

• For any celebrity or team alumni used to make a draft pick announcement. (Fingers crossed Michael Keaton made the cross country trip to announced the Penguins’ first selection.)

• If a pending UFA's rights are traded (example: Kyle Okposo).

CHUG

• Any mention of the 2017 draft class (Nolan Patrick, Timothy Liljegren, Owen Tippett).

• The NHL's video draft board has a malfunction.

• If Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning gets caught tampering again.

POUR ONE OUT

• If Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin decides to trade P.K. Subban.

(Ed.
