There are two types of people in this world: Those who love Toronto Maple Leafs star Phil Kessel as hockey’s dorky older brother, and the greatest example of a maligned player awe-shucksing his way into heartfelt appreciation; and those who are still hung up on such trivialities as his media relations and dressing room leadership to embrace The Full Kessel.

To that latter group, we present: Phil Kessel’s Christmas sweater.

Look at that man. A jolly hunk of holiday joy who squeezed into an elf costume, complete with gingerbread men strapped on like Batarangs. That smile that always seems to say, “Oh, so that’s what cameras do!” That ever-present black toque that makes it look like he just got back from his job at the docks and/or robbing the house next door like Denis Leary in “The Ref.”

The fact that he’s standing next to Dion Phaneuf – dressed like a candy cane with a porn 'stache – is its own kind of holiday miracle.

This is going to be the best Christmas card ever for a few dozen enterprising Toronto fans, who are no doubt searching for the appropriate color of glitter through which to construct a heart around this image.

A Christmas Kessel. A new holiday tradition.
