No. 1 Star: Shea Weber, Nashville Predators

Weber’s aggressive pinch 44 seconds into overtime resulted in the game-winning goal for the Predators, as Nashville defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 4-3. Weber earlier assisted on Craig Smith’s first of the season.

No. 2 Star: Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators

Anderson continued his stellar season with a 37-save effort, leading the Senators to a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders. That included 17 saves in the second period alone. Andre Benoit and Dave Dziurzynski scored their first NHL goals in the win.

No. 3 Star: Jeff Carter, Los Angeles Kings

Carter expertly tipped home a Trevor Lewis shot with 50 seconds left in regulation, as the Kings went on to defeat the Edmonton Oilers, 3-1. Bonus points for not going into a Yakupovian celebration in what was a revenge game for LA.

Honorable Mention: Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd scored while Ondrej Pavelec made 29 saves in the Winnipeg Jets2-1 win at the Buffalo Sabres. … Alex Galchenyuk’s third-period goal, on a feed from former Ranger Brandon Prust, helped the Montreal Canadiens defeat New York, 3-1. … Joe Thornton and Tim Kennedy had the goals as the San Jose Sharks knocked off the St. Louis Blues, 2-1. Kennedy’s game-winner was a “knuckler”, according to goalie Jake Allen. … Steve Stamkos scored goal No. 10 and Vinny Lecavalier scored his sixth as the Tampa Bay Lightning doubled up the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-2. … James van Riemsdyk scored his ninth in the loss. … Shootout goals by Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane helped the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks, tying an NHL record for most consecutive games with a point to start a season. … This Pavel Datsyuk goal was quite amazing.

Did You Know? Jason Pominville's goal snapped a six-game point drought that matched the longest of his career. (AP)

Dishonorable Mention: Jimmy Howard left the Red Wings’ loss to the Predators with an injury midway through the first period. … Taylor Hall, Justin Schultz and Jordan Eberle were minus-3. … The Sabres were booed on their home ice. … Matt Brown and Colton Orr both earned misconducts. … Leafs goalie Ben Scrivens was chased after giving up four goals on 13 shots. … Finally, what do you make of Jannik Hansen’s blow to the back of Marian Hossa’s head.
