NHL Three Stars: Pavelski, Marchand continue hot streaks; Leafs win fifth straight

I just think this photo is the best.

No. 1 Star: Brad Marchand, Boston Bruins

Marchand continued his run of hot play versus the Los Angeles Kings, scoring twice in a 3-2 Boston win. His first goal was a beautiful shorthanded marker to open the scoring, and his second was the game-winner.

No. 2 Star: Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks

Speaking of players that can do no wrong right now, Pavelski had netted his 26th and 27th of the season in a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames. His second goal was the game-winner, and it put him into a tie for second in NHL goal-scoring. It was also a pretty nifty piece of hand-eye:

No. 3 Star: Jesse Winchester, Florida Panthers

The Pens came into this game riding a franchise-record 13-game home winning streak, but they were no match for Winchester and the Panthers. Winchester had 3 helpers in a surprising, 5-1 Florida rout. Drew Shore scored twice.

Honorable mention: Jonathan Bernier made 39 saves and Phil Kessel had a two-point night as the Toronto Maple Leafs won their fifth in a row, 4-2, over the Phoenix Coyotes... Alex Steen had two assists in the Blues' 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Also Jaro Halak made this slick save:

Matt Read scored twice for the Philadelphia Flyers, who couldn't hold on to their third-period lead and fell to the New York Islanders, 4-3, in a shootout. His first goal came on a sweet power move and a gorgeous short-side shot:

Kyle Okposo scored the game-tying goal and the shootout winner... Roman Josi had a two-point night as the Nashville Predators beat the struggling Dallas Stars, 3-2.

Did You Know? The last time the Leafs won five straight was in February of 2007, when they were coached by Paul Maurice.

Dishonorable mention: The Flyers blew a two-goal third-period lead in their loss to the Islanders.
