A week after his daughter was born, Oshie provided a nice gift with his first career hat trick as the Blues beat the Minnesota Wild 5-1. St. Louis won for the ninth straight time over the Wild and have points in their last 10 games. David Backes and Jay Bouwmeester each had two assists and Ryan Miller made 27 saves in the win.
Jiri Tlusty put home two goals and Khudobin made 35 saves as the Hurricanes blanked the Florida Panthers 3-0. Khudobin's shutout was his first of the season and third of his career.
With 28 saves, Rask helped the Bruins blank the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 in a rematch of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final. The shutout was Rask's NHL-leading seventh this season and 23rd of his career. Patrice Bergeron scored twice as the Bruins have now outscored their opponents 51-19 over the last 14 games, according to the AP.
Honorable mention: A pair of goals from Shea Weber and 32 saves from Carter Hutton helped the Predators rout the Buffalo Sabres 6-1. Calle Jarnkrok and Colton Scissons scored their first NHL goals and 14 Predators recorded at least a point. Nashville has now won three of four and snapped a six-game losing streak ... Ryan Callahan scored twice for the Tampa Bay Lightning, but they needed 13 rounds in the shootout to get by the New York Islanders 3-2. From success in a shootout to lack of success. The New Jersey Devils dropped their ninth shootout of the year with a 3-2 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. Kyle Chipchura and Chris Summers each had a goal and an assist, while Thomas Greiss made 26 saves for his second straight win for the Coyotes ... Bruins players wore Boston Fire Department hats during warmups and a moment of silence was held to honor the memories of two firefighters who were killed on Wednesday ... Drew Doughty broke a 2-2 tie early in the third period and Martin Jones made 38 saves as the Los Angeles Kings downed the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 ... Tyson Barrie might as well change his name to Mr. OT as his goal helped the Colorado Avalanche in their 3-2 defeat of the Vancouver Canucks. The goal was Barrie's third in overtime this season, tying him with James Neal and Alex Ovechkin ... Tobi Enstrom's power play goal with 3:36 left in regulation sent the Winnipeg Jets passed the San Jose Sharks 4-3. Blake Wheeler had a goal and two assists and Michael Frolik and Bryan Little each had two points as the Jets sent the Sharks to their fourth defeat in six games:
Thomas Vanek posted a three-point night as the Montreal Canadiens edged the Detroit Red Wings 5-4. His 26th of the season with 8:45 left in the third period and would stand as the game winner as Montreal moved two points ahead of the Lightning for second in the Atlantic Division ...
