"Congratulations on your 123rd career shutout, Marty, but, I mean, you only faced 15 shots. At this point I think you can be more discerning about which ones you keep. I'd throw this one back."
Jaromir Jagr played a big role in the Devils' 5-0 breeze over the Nashville Predators, scoring the game's first goal and adding an assist later on. But more than that, his goal gave him 1,700 points in his career, putting him in some elite company. Only eight men have reached that milestone. Here's the goal that did it for him:
Galchenyuk had a three-point night as the Canadiens ended a 4-game losing skid versus the New York Islanders. After picking up assists on the game's first two goals, Galchenyuk scored the insurance marker to make it a 4-2 finish. Lars Eller had a three-point night as well.
Without Ryan Getzlaf in the lineup, the Ducks needed a little more from Perry, and they got it, with two points from Perry in a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks. Perry assisted on the game-winner and he scored the game's first goal, knocking an airborne puck down into Eddie Lack with his head before jamming it home:
Honorable mention: Martin Brodeur picked up his 123rd career shutout, which is pretty good, stopping all (or just) 15 shots in the Devils' win... Philip Larsen picked up three assists for the Edmonton Oilers in their 5-4 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks... The New York Rangers moved over .500 for the first time this season, beating the Florida Panthers 4-3. Brad Richards had two points in the win... Semyon Varlamov stopped 33 of 34 and Nick Holden scored his first career goal in the Colorado Avalanche's 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals... Grant Clitsome had a three-point night for the Winnipeg Jets as they beat the San Jose Sharks 5-4 in the shootout.
Did You Know? Andrew Ladd is 4-for-4 in the shootout this season.
Dishonorable mention: The Sharks have now lost 5 straight... The Predators could only muster 15 shots versus New Jersey... the Oilers just can't keep the puck out of their net.
