NHL Three Stars: Bishop takes win for Lightning; Keith aids Hawks over Wild

No. 1 Star: Ben Bishop, Tampa Bay Lightning

Just two days after a big Game 7 win over the Detroit Red Wings, the Lightning goaltender stopped 44 of 45 Montreal shots on goal in a 2-1 double overtime Game 1 win. It wasn’t easy for Bishop, who had to overcome a game-tying third period flub on the below Max Pacioretty goal.

No. 2 Star, Duncan Keith, Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago defenseman notched two assists in 24:43 of action in the Blackhawks’ 4-3 Game 1 win over Minnesota. That’s now nine points in seven games for the Chicago minute-crunching all-situation blueliner. He has averaged 31:00 per-contest these playoffs.

No. 3. Star: Tyler Johnson, Tampa Bay Lightning

The young forward continued his torrid goal scoring pace for the Lightning with a score in Tampa’s win. Johnson has seven goals to lead the entire NHL playoffs. He also has eight points in eight games this postseason.

Honorable Mention: Tampa defenseman Matt Carle picked up an assist and Nikita Kucherov scored the game-winner … Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty scored Montreal’s only goal … Chicago forward Teuvo Teravainen scored the game winner … Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane scored a goal as did fellow Hawks forwards Brandon Saad and Marcus Kruger … Minnesota forward Zach Parise scored a goal and added an assist … Wild forward Thomas Vanek notched two assists.

Did You Know?: Teravainen (20 years, 232 days old) is the youngest Blackhawk to score a playoff game winning goal since Jeremy Roenick (20 years, 89 days) on April 19, 1990 against the Minnesota North Stars.

Dishonorable Mention: That’s now eight playoff games for Steven Stamkos without a goal for Tampa … In playoff starts this year, Chicago’s Corey Crawford has yet to allow fewer than three goals per-game … Minnesota goaltender Devan Dubnyk allowed four goals on 35 shots on goal. He now has an underwhelming 2.58 goals against average and .908 save percentage tis postseason.
