When it comes to player jersey sales in the NHL, it’s usually all about those spiffy Winter Classic sweaters.

Last season saw Claude Giroux of the Flyers and Ryan Callahan of the Rangers finish first and second in sales, with five other players from the 2012 Winter Classic in Philly cracking the top 20. In 2010-11, six Penguins and Capitals landed in the top 20 thanks to their Winter Classic in Pittsburgh.

In 2013 … well, the closest we got to a Winter Classic was the announcement that next year’s will still be held in Michigan despite the lockout cancellation. No outdoor games, no spiffy alternate sweaters for which fans could plunk their dollars down.

So which players ended up leading the sales standings on Shop NHL in this truncated, no-Winter-Classic-havin' season? Glad you asked. Via the NHL:

Interesting to see James Neal make the list by Evgeni Malkin, who was 17th last season, not make the cut.

Conspicuous by its absence: The Jaromir Jagr Dallas Stars jersey. There obviously aren’t enough Jagr completists or Stars fans willing to honor a rental to get that sweater in the countdown.

Finally: Not a single Los Angeles Kings player in the Top 20 after winning their first Stanley Cup last June? Hopefully that's just a symptom of goalie bias, as Jonathan Quick should have moved some sweaters, right?
