If you saw “The Wolf of Wall Street” or the Golden Globes red carpet coverage, you no doubt know the name Margot Robbie.

She probably single-handedly doubled the traffic to IMDB as people searched her name, because she stole every scene she was in. She’s a 23 year old former soap star in Australia, and is headed to “Next Big Thing” status.

So it’s with great honor what we share with you this fact about the talented Ms. Robbie: She’s a massive hockey fan. And she plays plays right wing in an amateur hockey league, according to Vulture.

Like, weeping when her favorite team loses massive.

Robbie’s team of choice is the New York Rangers, and her emotional journey through a regular-season game against the Columbus Blue Jackets actually made the Daily Mail in the U.K.

(She wore a Henrik Lundqvist jersey; glad someone can give that poor, average-looking man a much-needed ego boost.)

David Ehrlich of Film.com, a Rangers fan, took his opportunity interviewing Robbie to quiz her on her Rangers fandom:

How did you become a Rangers fan?

“Well I always wanted to play ice hockey back in Australia, I’m not sure why, but we didn’t have any ice where I lived. It was very hot, a coastal town. So I played field hockey, but then when I moved to America I was finally able to join a team once I wasn’t contracted to a show, but when I was contracted to a show I wasn’t able to play. But I was living in New York, so I was able to watch, and the Rangers were my default team. [short pause]

“And not just by default, but also because they’re the best team ever. And I just became absolutely dedicated and loyal to them immediately, and have been ever since.

“Are there any particular Rangers to whom you’ve become attached? … Lundqvist. He’s just, I mean…”

He’s a beautiful man. I don’t mean for that to sound patronizing, it’s just true.

“I love him so much. He’s so brilliant. And I really love Ryan Callahan, and I really love Brian Boyle, they’re two of my favorites as well.

Does she think they can make the playoffs?

“[Very serious] I always have faith that we’re going to make the playoffs. It’s been a really tough year for us, and I think that we’ve needed that extra pressure. I think that it’s going to motivate us to do better, I think that we perform well under pressure.”

Needless to say, we’re thrilled to add Margot Robbie to our family of celebrity puckheads, joining such luminaries as David Boreanaz, Matthew Perry and Kevin Connolly.

And as such, we must make a simple request to Ms. Robbie: As a supporter of the National Hockey League and a celebrity, it’s your duty to attend the NHL Awards as a presenter.

Or as host.

Yes, let’s go with host.

Or really anything you’d like to do at the NHL Awards. We’ll even rename the Lady Byng the “Robbie Trophy” if you’d like and re-sculpt it in your visage, if you please.
