Nothing wrong with Ovechkin's decision. Like stated in previous comment he is the truest super star this league has.

Too bad Semin didn't refuse to play in the All Star game; it would make for great headlines.
"Semin pulls out," "Semin refuses to go to Ottawa," "No Semin in Ottawa" or, my personal favorite, "No Semin in All Stars' Eyes."

i'm waiting for the feature story about how he takes ballet or something like that. "semin found in unlikeliest place."

Or maybe how he's getting involved in the Republican primary process.

"Santorum brings Semin into the mix"

Juvenile, yes, but still funny to me...

I've never actually listened to this show before, but the Tim Thomas conversation is fantastic. Marek's points on Tim Thomas are FANTASTIC.

Lost respect for Thomas. He needs to show respect to the position, to the nation and to the tradition. He acted like a two-year-old in his decision.

Nothing changed with Ovechkin. He's the truest super star this league has. This week he did what makes him great, he played hard with passion. His suspension is bogus (shoulda been a two- or four-minute penalty), and his choice to skip the ASG fits the bill perfectly for a superstar with an attitude. I love it.

It fits the bill for a player who consistently makes bad hits, then gets upset because the league has told him repeatedly through warnings, fines, suspensions to change.

Now he's pouting and people still want to call Crosby the cry baby? Please.

If that hit was on Ovie, you can res assured the Caps would be crying. I agree with him missing the ASG. He doesn't deserve to be there, if he is being punished.

Tim Thomas is twice the man Ovechkin will never be. Ove look like a $9,000,000 over paid Russian cry baby too me

Respect for Thomas. It's good to see an individual with a spine these days.In fact, it seems they are becoming endangered.

if i was a player id be literally embarrassed to be part of the all star game... its so cheesy so forced and just a flat out joke. fantasy draft? cmon.

the nhl has to take it seriously first then maybe the players will. you can't have "7 time all-star" listed as a credential to make a hall of fame or something along those lines if you have fans voting in underserving players and making a mockery of it. If the nhl is choosing the most deservingly players to play in it then it would be an actual honor to partake, if they get rid of all this circus &^&% that they have.

Ice Gladiator...this is the tale of a hockey player defying a President!

Kudos to Thomas. Freedom is for everyone. Obama has done more to erode respect for the position of POTUS than any president in history. You have to give it to get it.

Totally gained respect for Tim Thomas, and lost respect for Ovechkin. At least Ovi wasn't invited (with an offer "you can't refuse") to a political event.

When I was a kid I would get so excited for the NHL All-Star Game. It was up there with the playoffs for me. Seeing all of those NHL stars on the same ice, the same dudes who lead the statistical categories that I constantly checked on, was something awesome. All of my friends would gather around and watch. Then I got older and I stopped giving a #$%$But, I'm pretty sure kids still exist.
