The SPHL’s Knoxville Ice Bears fell to the Peoria Rivermen 9-3 Friday night, but fans had a different kind of concern as they left Knoxville Civic Coliseum. During the game, someone in attendance pushed team mascot Chilly down the stairs, which resulted in a scary scene.

The employee had to be cut from the suit in order for medical personnel to evaluate and later take him to a local hospital. The “fan” who did the shoving was detained.

“They cut him out of the suit to properly care for possible head and neck injuries,” Sgt. Jason Keck told the Knoxville News Sentinel.

The Ice Bears Tweeted an update on Saturday detailing Chilly's injuries:

If the Knoxville Police want to decide on a punishment for this "fan," I think bringing him to center ice the first game Chilly returns and allowing the mascot to pie the "fan" in the face for the duration of the intermission might suffice. That, or 10 minutes in the penalty box with team enforcer David Segal.
