Kings vs. Rangers Stanley Cup Preview: Who has the better celebrity fans?
Leading up to Wednesday's Game 1, Puck Daddy is previewing every facet of the Stanley Cup Final between the Los Angeles Kings and the New York Rangers — on the ice and off the ice.
New York and Los Angeles: where every waiter is an actor, and their screenplay is in the breakroom (if you can hold on just a second, Mr. Spielberg).
It's fitting these two cities met in the Stanley Cup Final, seeing as the rich and famous are about the only people who will be able to afford tickets to the games.
We'll start in the Big Apple at Madison Square Garden where these celebrity Ranger fans don't want to take a selfie with you.
Why is Chace Crawford, formerly of Gossip Girl and ... other things, praying? His brother-in-law is Tony Romo (no joke), and he's hoping no one brings that up.
Romo was at the Dallas Stars playoff game when the Anaheim Ducks came back in the final minute and ended the Stars season in OT; Romo was shown on the jumbotron with a Stars sweater. Even though Tony wasn't at the Ranger game - Believe in the Romo Curse!!
This one is just for the gents - it's Susan Sarandon. Hmm. I wonder how long it would take for security to get to the creeper that steals the open seat next to Margot Robbie.
Nope, that's not a nervous 12-year-old who just met Margot Robbie. It's Jason Bateman!
Hey look! It's Robert De Niro doing everyone's bad impression of Robert De Niro. 'Ehh, lil' bit, lil' bit'.
Never in my life did I think I would see Jimmy Conway waving a rally towel.
That's a pretty good cross section of Ranger fans. On to Hollywood! Where just like the city, the people don't look like what you saw on TV or in the movies.
WHOOPS! Wrong picture...
There we go. David Beckham and his sons are at almost every Kings game. Beckham retired from playing soccer/football/futbol and now keeps himself busy by posing in underwear ads (not a bad thing) and attending Kings games.
Look! It's Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul! Or is it Cliff Paul giving an assist to the Kings. Get it?! You win this round, State Farm marketing.
Comedienne Retta from Parks and Rec learned a lot about hockey through a tumblr account after live tweeting a Kings and Blues playoff game. Now she tweets her nervousness on gameday just like the rest of us puckheads. TREAT YO' SELF.
Say it ain't so, Will?! Frank the Tank is a glass-banger.
These are just a sampling of the stars showing up at NHL games. Not a bad group in either city. I remember the days after the lockout before last when the biggest celeb in attendance was usually Cuba Gooding Jr.
Granted, he is an Oscar winner, but Snow Dogs...
Anyway, a word of warning if attending the game. Both cities have been known to draw out The Bieber.
Stay away from Axe Body Spray and you should be ok.
