Jonathan Drouin, Lightning star rookie, out 3-4 weeks with broken thumb
Tampa Bay Lightning winger Jonathan Drouin might be the leading candidate for the Calder Trophy heading into the 2014-15 season. But the start of his rookie of the year campaign might be delayed.
The Lightning announced that Drouin is out up to four weeks with a fractured right thumb.
The 19-year-old, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 draft, didn’t practice for three days and went for additional testing.
The Lightning indicated the injury wasn’t serious, but never indicated that Drouin might miss the start of the regular season.

"What's bothering him, once it gets better, it won't bother him again," Coach Jon Cooper told the Tampa Tribune. "It shouldn't be a long-term lingering thing."
Drouin was returned to the Halifax Mooseheads at the end of last September when the Lightning announced its final roster. He had 108 points in 46 games for them, and 41 points in 16 playoff games. Which, by our math, is pretty good.
