Jeremy Roenick sings Bieber during Lightning, Islanders delay

NHL on NBC analyst Jeremy Roenick jokingly blamed a delay to start the third period between the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning on pop star Justin Bieber.

And in order to drive his point home, Roenick decided to sing Bieber’s hit single “Sorry” as NBC tried to kill the time.

The reason for the delay was an issue with part of the boards at Barclays Center that came undone when the Zamboni seemed to dislodged them between periods. Roenick referenced Bieber because Bieber played at Barclays Center May 4 and 5, and several members of the Lightning went to see the show.

The tongue n’ cheek thought was probably that the boards got messed up because of the load-in, load-out process for the concerts before Game 4.

The delay took around 10 minutes and required several people looking at the boards, including a man in a suit with a red hammer.

According to Newsday, Bieber’s concerts were the reason why the series had a particularly long layoff between Games 3 and 4. Game 3 was Tuesday, and both teams had an extra day of rest because of the shows.
